Security & Privacy
Version 2.3
SEMCAT Software Installation & Requirements
- SEMCAT is a Windows desktop application usable on local desktop and terminal server computers. SEMCAT works with all common Windows environments from Windows XP to Windows 7.
- SEMCAT requires a computer with the following specifications: (1.5 ghz cpu, 256 mb RAM free, 100 mb Hard Drive storage free) and a broadband internet connection (>256 kilobits per second). Computers with greater specifications will perform better.
- The SEMCAT application "installs" to the users' roaming application data folder, and requires no special permissions in typical situations.
- The SEMCAT installer simply unpacks the SEMCAT application files to the roaming application data directory and makes one non-critical registry modification (in order to provide an uninstallation option in Add/Remove Programs)
SEMCAT Software Updates
- SEMCAT is built to automatically update when a new version is made available for the user.
- Since there are no registry changes, the only changes with an update are simply the modification of files in the user's roaming application data directory.
Remote Support
- In order to provide training and support, the SEMCAT Support Team uses a 'remote desktop' solution provided by LogMeIn. During an installation or support phone call, our Support Team would ask the agent to visit http://semcat.net/install to start a remote connection in order to assist them through installation, training, or support. This solution requires no software installation, no firewall modification, and is web browser based.
SEMCAT Quoting
-
SEMCAT's technology allows for customer data directly exchange between your local SEMCAT software and the carrier's website. From a security perspective, this is the exact same process encountered when quoting through Internet Explorer - open the carrier's site over a secured https connection and enter client information directly into that site. The client information transfers directly from your computer to the carrier's web site, and is not proxied through our servers.
SEMCAT Usage Statistics
-
The SEMCAT servers track items such as SEMCAT logins, quoted carriers, and functionality usages (such as how often quotes are printed). These logged activities provide us with the means to provide adequate support, to analyze quote patterns, as well as provide agencies with usage statistics (quotes per month, quotes per company, etc).
SEMCAT & Your Customer Data
-
Your customer data is stored on servers in a secure facility that is SAS70 Type II compliant, and is encrypted when deemed appropriate during transfer and storage. Access to this data requires an active SEMCAT account. Customer data is stored for your benefit and may be deleted or modified by you at any time when using SEMCAT. This data may be exported from an active account at your request with reasonable notice. Your clients' personally identifiable data may not be sold or transferred to third parties without consent.
SEMCAT Web Entry Form
-
The Web Entry Form is SEMCAT's online client entry form for agency websites, which streams incoming client leads from your website to SEMCAT. The Web Entry Form is hosted by Allied Strategy and secured by our SSL from your Web Entry Form to your local SEMCAT. The client data is encrypted with 256-bit AES encryption during this process.
SEMCAT & Your Carrier Logins
-
The carrier logins you save in SEMCAT (via "Remember My Password") are stored locally on your computer in encrypted form. You may optionally choose to sync and backup your passwords on SEMCAT's cloud servers, on which data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
